All vacancies at the University of Vienna that have to be announced publicly – with the exception of professorships – are advertised via the Job Center. Applicants can update their details, get information about open applications or submit speculative applications on the Job Center website. Active employees of the University of Vienna can apply for vacancies at other university institutions via UNIVISonline.

Professorships

As a research university with high international visibility and a wide range of degree programmes, the University of Vienna is committed to basic research open to application and research-led teaching. In this regard, the appointment of particularly qualified researchers to university professors is an important strategy of the University of Vienna. The appointment of university professors follows an appointment procedure in accordance with the 2002 Universities Act.

Tenure track professorships

With the tenure track professorship (assistant professor, associated professor), the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff created a career model that has since been implemented at the University of Vienna. Tenure track positions are reserved for larger academic fields taking into consideration research and teaching needs. They should also to enable new research fields to be opened up within the framework of faculty planning.

Recruiting

Recruiting new employees is a key success factor and image factor for the University. All institutions of the University of Vienna advertising a vacancy have the opportunity to receive counselling and support from the recruiting team of the Human Resources and Development unit. This experienced team is familiar with the university framework and provides support before and - if necessary - during the advertisement and recruitment procedure.
