About the appointment procedure
As a research university with high international visibility and a wide range of degree programmes, the University of Vienna is committed to basic research open to application and research-led teaching. In this regard, the appointment of particularly qualified researchers to university professors is an important strategy of the University of Vienna. University professors are appointed following an appointment procedure in accordance with the 2002 Universities Act.
Professors’ Appointment Consulting Service
The Professors’ Appointment Consulting Service is the communication hub for professors, starting with the offer of appointment. It is in close contact with the Rectorate, the University’s faculties and centres, its service units and, of course, the professors to be appointed. Furthermore, it supports the Rector in the advertisement of the positions and the appointment negotiations Moreover, the Professors’ Appointment and Consulting Service provides a range of services to support newly appointed university professors in creating the best possible professional and private environment, thereby enabling a perfect start at the University of Vienna.
